Tessa McCaide has a unique talent for getting into trouble. Then again, it isn’t easy for a girl with visions to ignore what she sees. Luckily Tessa and her family are leaving California and moving halfway across the country, giving her the perfect opportunity to leave her reputation as “Freaky Tessa” behind.
But Tessa doesn’t realize that kissing the wrong guy in her new Texas town could land her in far more trouble than she ever imagined. Like being forced to attend St. Ailbe’s Academy, a secret boarding school for werewolves.
Even if the wrong guy did accidentally turn her into one of “them” and doom her to attending the weirdest high school ever, Tessa can’t help her growing attraction to the mysterious Dastien Laurent.
When vampires attack St. Alibe’s and her visions pinpoint an enemy in their midst, Tessa realizes that boy drama and her newfound canine tendencies might just be the least of her problems.

Oh my God. I don't know where to start! Ok, first, this might be a bit too positive but it's just how I felt. It's completely honest.

I think this is the best werewolf story ever! To be honest, the first time I saw this book on netgalley, I was one hundred percent enchanted by the cover. I just love illustrated covers you know. Then when I saw the blurb, I semi-unconsciously clicked 'request' button. And BAM! great book. So thank you so much INscribe Digital and Ink Monster LLC.

This book is about seventeen-year-old Tessa. She had always been different because of her unique talent, no friends, no guys, and constant stares from others. It was a relief when she got to move away to Texas. Then she met with Dastien McHottie (His last name is not really McHottie, ok). Tessa was warned to not involve herself with the St. Ailbe’s students, but her pull towards Dastien is more powerful than she thought. And even though Dastien was not a student anymore, he's still an ex-St. Ailbe’s. Tessa don't know what's really going on with St. Ailbe’s though, so she decided to follow her heart and kiss the guy. But something goes wrong, and her life was now upside down.

I am really amazed. There are some novels that are packed with conflicts that it was really exhausting to read-through, and there is some novels that is lacking of conflicts that it was boring. Becoming Alpha was neither. It was loose yet still packed with awesome scenes! I don't know about you but I thought nothing in the book was un-necessary. Tessa was Great with the capital G! she's a mere teenage girl with the addition of magical power, and now the ability to shift into a wolf and beat a guy with her bare hands. She's not trained to fight yet, I don't know if it was the writing or what, she didn't feel wimpy at all! in fact, she sounded bad-ass, without kicking anyone's ass. Weird right? I know. The weirdest and most unusual thing is, the first character that I am annoyed at is Dastien. I know he's supposed to be the main eye-candy in the novel (and I always loved eye-candies) but at the beginning he was just so frustrating! (still hot though) you'll probably still like him, so don't worry. I love him by the end of the book. Ok, thumbs up for the plot, writing style, and the awesome characters!

It's really interesting to see how creepy and disgusting vampires are in werewolf novels, and how vicious and animalistic werewolves are in vampire novels. It's like hopping into two different point of views. Love this novel! cannot wait for the sequel!!
