Feature and Follow Friday #4

Question of the week
Bookselling Time: Go to your biggest bookcases. Go to the second shelf from the top and pick out the sixth book from the left. Handsell that book to us - even if you haven’t read it or if you hated it. (if you don’t have bookcases, done have six books on one shelf, etc, pick a book at random)

A story about a girl who was hovering on the edge of her sanity.

Mara Dyer was lucky, she survived a building collapse when her friends died. But since then, she had these weird accidents happening around her.

Animals that could harm her died.

And not to mention, she saw her dead friends.

What happened to Mara Dyer? What is she? find out more by reading this novel. A great read for those who loved paranormal fiction and hot male protagonists.

What happened yesterday night

This is not important, but I just had to post it. I got the sudden urge to post about it. So, what happened yesternight? after a week full of tests, me and my friends finally got our break. 'Break' as in party-ing instead of resting at home. We went to Djakarta Warehouse Project 2013, where we got to rave all night. I don't want to say much about it and just share you some pictures instead, so enjoy (I guess)

Awesome performance by David Guetta. You may not see it, but yes, it was that crowded.

Erm, that's just me and my brother.

And curse the rain because it messed up my shoes. Badly.

Say goodbye to the old header!

Finally! I decided to change the header and several other things, because I'm tired of it.
Here's the old header if you haven't seen it:

And you can see the new one up there! The cat is now on the right. So which one do you prefer? feel free to comment below!

When having two powers makes you a Super and having none makes you a Normal, having only one makes you a sad half-superpowered freak.
It makes you a One.
Sixteen-year-old Merrin Grey would love to be able to fly – too bad all she can do is hover.
If she could just land an internship at the Biotech Hub, she might finally figure out how to fix herself. She busts her butt in AP Chem and salivates over the Hub’s research on the manifestation of superpowers, all in hopes of boosting her chances.
Then she meets Elias VanDyne, another One, and all her carefully crafted plans fly out the window. Literally. When the two of them touch, their Ones combine to make them fly, and when they’re not soaring over the Nebraska cornfields, they’re busy falling for each other.
Merrin's mad chemistry skills land her a spot on the Hub's internship short list, but as she gets closer to the life she always wanted, she discovers that the Hub’s purpose is more sinister than it has always seemed. Tessa McCaide is a newbie werewolf from the book Becoming Alpha by Aileen Erin. She used to be a mere teenager like us but then something wrong happened, and then she turned bad-ass. And now I got to interview her! Becoming Alpha is also not officially on a Blog Tour, so consider this as a teaser. Check out the awesome blurb below and my review of this book! Awesome. Cleaning up a bit

It's not that important actually, but I just want to post it.
It has been months since The Four Eyed Cat Reviews was born (I'm not really sure of the date though. This used to be my random blog before I remake it) and lots of things happened since then. Interesting widgets, cool badges, and super awesome series banners made this blog crowded. It is crowded, don't lie. So I'm going to clean it up!

Consider this as a notice, so you won't be shocked when this blog became private later on. I'm going to change the header and several other things, and when I do, I like to keep it closed so no one could see how messy my blog is in the middle of my "re-construction". There won't be many new stuffs, just the header and several things. I won't do this today, maybe next week when I'm available (curse you school works)

So yeah, just an advance notice for you my tiny army of awesome followers! (is that even a word...)

Feature and Follow Friday #1

Ok! so this is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee. It was a bit irritating when you saw something interesting yet you don't have any idea what it is, so I'm just going to tell you. Basically this is the place where you found new friends and followers! (Check out the host's posts to know more and join this blog hop!) This is my first time joining this so... sorry if I made any mistake. I prefer GFC, but Bloglovin's ok too. Here it goes!

Question of the week
Are there any book to movie adaptations where you think the movie is better than the book?

This is really hard, since I rarely watched movies. Especially when they are book to movie adaptations. I've watched Narnia and the Lightning Thief but I try to avoid reading the book (I'm a coward). I've also watched The Mortal Instruments and Hunger Games, love the books yet, personally, I thought the books were better.

Maybe I'm going to go with the classic, To Kill a Mockingbird. No offense, but I thought the book was... boring. I don't know why, one day I was bored and I decided to watch the movie. I wouldn't consider myself as a fan of the movie, but I managed to finish it. A bit less boring, so definitely better than the book. (I'm really sorry, Harper Lee fans.)

How about you? feel free to comment below!

Sharing some artworks

These artworks below are made for my Cambridge Arts & Design test, but I ended up sending other artworks because of some reasons. And I thought, why not share it? it's better than nothing. So here it is.

It's the colored version of this artwork. East of the Sun, West of the Moon. And yes, it was inspired by the Norwegian folktale.

And this one below is inspired by the German folktale Snow White & Red Rose. It doesn't connect with the real story... it's just two girls with their names consuming them.

Well, that's it. Hope you enjoy...

Eighteen year old Myla Lewis is a girl who loves two things: kicking ass and kicking ass. She’s not your every day quasi-demon, half-demon and half-human, girl. For the past five years, Myla has lived for the days she gets to fight in Purgatory’s arena. When souls want a trial by combat for their right to enter heaven or hell, they go up against her, and she hasn’t lost a battle yet.
But as she starts her senior year at Purgatory High, the arena fights aren’t enough to keep her spirits up anymore. When the demons start to act weird, even for demons, and the King of the Demons, Armageddon, shows up at Myla’s school, she knows that things are changing and it’s not looking good for the quasi-demons. Myla starts to question everything, and doesn’t like the answers she finds. What happened seventeen years ago that turned the quasi-demons into slave labor? Why was her mom always so sad? And why won’t anyone tell her who her father is? Things heat up when Myla meets Lincoln, the High Prince of the Thrax, a super sexy half-human and half-angel demon hunter. But what’s a quasi-demon girl to do when she falls for a demon hunter? It’s a good thing that Myla’s not afraid of breaking a few rules. With a love worth fighting for, Myla’s going to shake up Purgatory.

Introducing the New Rating System!

The rating system's the same actually. I'm still using a 5/5 but! I'm banishing the stars! Now I'm going to use a cat! (four eyed cat to be precise) 5 eyes open (5 stars, since four eyed cat have 4 eyes, one of them are post it) to no eyes open (no stars)

5 eyes open (4 eyes + 1 fake eyes on a post it)
AMAZING. It was PURR-FECT! Love it so much, everything about it. One of my favorite books, would probably re-read it again in the future! Super recommended!

4 eyes open
Love it, still one of my favorites but wouldn't re-read it. Recommended!

3 eyes open
Like it. Not one of my favorites, I disliked at least 50% of the book (either it was the plot, characters, or anything else) not really recommended.

2 eyes open
It was ok... I managed to finish it but it was flat, didn't pull me at all. Would not recommend it.

1 eyes open
Dislike it! I warned you! Do not even try to read it. It was BORING.

No eyes open
HORRIBLE. Don't even think about reading this. I never rated a book with this 'no eyes open' so far, so that's good. It was DNF (for those who don't know, it means Do Not Finish). Even a cat wouldn't want to see it.

Credits for my brother! he made those cute four eyed cats above!

The Liebster Award!

I felt really honored to be nominated by Nena from Nena's Short Reviews! And I should tell you guys that you should check out her blog! I loved it so you would too ;-) Okay, I'm not really sure how to do this... so please tell me if I made any mistakes okay?

So after surfing a bit about what this award is, it turns out to be an award given to a blogger by another blogger! it was intended to give more emphasis to bloggers with 200 or less followers. All you need to do is:

- Link back to the blogger who nominated you.
- Answer the 11 questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you.
- Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers.
- Go to the blogs you nominated and notify them of your nomination.
- Give your nominees 11 questions to answer.

My questions from Nena:
1.What is your go to lipstick ?
I'm a girl but the probability of me wearing any kinds of lipstick is from 1 to 0. I'm not permitted to wear makeup to school and I'm not the makeup-y type so... hahah

2.If you could only read one book genre for the rest of your life which genre would you choose ?
Wow, tough question. I think it would be paranormal romance. I just love those paranormal creatures, especially if the love each other (lol, idk why but this sound weird)

3.What is your favorite book ?
Another tough question! currently, it would probably be Paranormalcy by Kiersten White!

4.What kind of music do you listen to ?
It changes based on my mood actually. If I'm not reading I, I love to listen to something with beat (My favorite artist is Alesso and Zedd) and if I'm reading, I love to listen to soothing instrumentals (My favorites are Gymnopedie no. 1 by Erik Satie and A Walk by Tycho) or Florence and the Machine! I listen to Florence on both while reading and not reading.

5.What is the worst book you've read this year ?
The books I've read this years are awesome, thankfully. But the worst from them all would probably be Deception by C. J. Redwine. It was really disappointing since I war really looking forward and it turns out to be boring :-( It's not that bad though.

6.What is your favorite movie that you have seen this year ?
Percy Jackson: the Sea of Monsters! Why do I felt like a fanatic kid by answering this?

7.Book or e-reader ?
I would have chosen book, but imported books are really expensive if you're living here in Indonesia, so I choose e-reader.

8.do you have a favorite perfume ?
Not the makeup-y type and not the perfume-y type. My scent goes as far as my soap does. My brother hated perfumes so I'm used to not using it.

9.What t.v series have you gotten addicted to lately ?
I spent most of my time between reading, sleeping, and homework lately so no time for any t.v series... but I watched the Ghost Whisperers, won't say I'm addicted though.

10.If you could only wear one makeup item for the rest of your life which product would you choose?
From all makeup items available on this world, I only loved eyeliners (not emo, btw) so yeah, eyeliners! they made my eyes look good ;-)

11. What is your Man/Girl Crush ?
Fiction or non-fiction? well, if it's fiction it would be my all-time book boyfriend, kenji from Shatter Me. If it's non-fiction it would be Matt Bomer, I know he's gay but who could actually resist those sharp eyes? really. He's the God of Hotness.

Okay! so here's my nominations! Awesome blogs that could use more followers! because they deserve it. My nominations:

- Nena's Short Reviews
- Littlecookie74
- Angelic Book reviews
- Boho Book Lover
- Mrs B's Books
- My Bookshelf is Hungry
- I'm Loving Books!
- Myra's Book Reviews
- Misinterpreted & Unrepresented
- Sandee's Sweet and Sexy Book Reviews
- Elle's 411 on YA Books

My questions!
1. If you had a chance to change your name (both first name and last name) what would it be?
2. What is your best personality?
3. Do you have any weird and unusual habbit(s)?
4. What is your favorite mythical creature?
5. What is the weirdest food you've ever eaten?
6. Hardcover or Paperback?
7. If you could only wear one color (means your clothes, bag, accessories, etc. would be in the same color) for the rest of your life, what color would you pick?
8. What is your favorite genre for a book?
9. If you could marry an actor/ model, who would it be?
10.What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
11.If you're a dinosaur, are you going to be carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore?

Feel free to answer these questions in the comments! I'm really interested in your answers :-)

An assignment *sigh*

So today I'm having ICT (Information Communication Technology) at school and I don't know why but we're back learning how to blog. Wow. So yeah, as one of the assignments, I need to post something about this blog, and attach either a picture or a video. Let's do this.

For those who don't know, I'll give you a brief introduction of what The Four Eyed Cat Reviews is. This blog is mostly about YA books. I post reviews (obviously) here and other things like...artworks, un-published novels, and others. I decided to start my own book blog in order to be able to get arcs! and as a new experience.

Since I was tasked to attach a picture or a video in this post then I'm going to share this! My favorite book trailer ever!

One choice will define you.

What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

MTBABLB #1 : Spoiler-aholic

I had nothing to do last night, and I was really bored that I decided to check out my own blog. And it was a mistake because now I know (one of) the reason why this blog was really invisible (not famous and all) and here it is: it's boring. Well, at least I think it is. I know it's "The Four Eyed Cat Reviews" but I admit, a blog with only reviews in it was a bit boring, no offense. Except if your reviews are super cool and demanded unlike mine (why does this sound really sad?). So here comes MTBABLB: which stands for making-this-blog-a-bit-less-boring. MTBABLB is posts that may or may be not related to books that is not a review, A.K.A something that might make this blog a bit more interesting.

Now, as the first step MTBABLB I'm going to tell you about my addiction, or a habit? I don't know. I can't believe I'm saying this and this might sound a bit cliche but, my heart is fragile. I didn't mean it literally. Every time I finished reading a book with cliffhangers and no sequel I got really mad that I could actually complain about it for at least the whole day, and not to the author but to everyone around me, the ones that have no idea about the book. And I am hurt. I don't know why but the disappointment could actually stop me from reading other books for several days, or weeks. And I hate it. Worst, it also happens with the sad books. Even the ones that other people thinks that it wasn't sad enough, I cried. I felt really stupid when one of my family member barge in my room and found me weeping over a book (or a movie) and those sadness lasts. I hate that too. So here comes my addiction. I am addicted to Spoilers

If available, I read the Epilogue before the Prologue, I read reviews full of spoilers. And that is bad because I tend to drop lots of books down just because it doesn't have the ending that I wanted. Currently, the only books that I read without any spoiler was only the Shatter Me seriesDivergent trilogy, and Under the Never Sky trilogy. So please, if you had any tips on fighting this addiction, comment! or tell me if you had the same addiction? maybe we could be besties, lol.

Oh yeah, and even worst, I just found out that the addiction runs in the family. My aunt always watch the ending of a film before watching it. *sigh*
